Abby Martinez

Abby's oxygen level was so low, we were not sure if she she would survive the flight. A nurse from LeBonheur met her at the flight with an oxygen tank in case it as needed. Her surgery went well and she is home and grown up to be a thriving teenager.

Daniela arrived with Alba Roll from Helping hands from Honduas in 2011. Her dad who lives in CA came to be at her side. She was a shy teenager wearing glasses. She is now grown up to be a beautiful young woman as you can see.

David arrived in October 2017 with his mother Delmy. I remember that Delmy brought David to Baptist Hospital to visit me after I had major surgery. David has thrived and is a rough and tumble teenager in Honduras.

TerriAnn Williams

Terriann arrived in 2014 from Guyana as a young teenager. Following her surgery, she thrived and blossomed into a stunning young adult.

Natalia Rosa

Natalia arrived at Le Bonheur in December 2016 from Panama. She was a stunning young lady who captivated the hearts of everyone in Memphis. Although she recently lost her dad, she is growing and thriving in school.

Sophia Garcia

Sophia has Down syndrome in addition to her heart condition. Despite these challenges, her mother is incredibly supportive, and nothing is hindering Sophia's progress.

Meixue Yang

Meixue, an orphan from China, arrived in 2012. One of the most memorable events during her trip was when she got lost in Chicago airport while returning home after her surgery. A kind-hearted pilot for AA befriended her and, coincidentally, turned out to be the same pilot who flew her back home. Although the pilot and his wife made unsuccessful attempts to adopt her, he did underwrite her college education in China. Meixue has since built a successful career and has found love and acceptance with an American family.

Tianyou Peng

Tianyou arrived from China along with his twin sister. He not only had a heart condition but also the most severe clubfoot that the doctors at Le Bonheur had ever seen. Initially, the doctors expressed concern that fixing his heart may prevent him from walking. However, they successfully treated both conditions, and he returned to China. Since then, he has become a karate champion, demonstrating the resilience and determination that is characteristic of so many of Gift of Life Mid-South's success stories.

Wendell Posse

In 2017, Wendell and his mother arrived. Despite the challenges they faced, Wendell remained a cheerful and contented little boy. Interestingly, his mother had learned to speak English when she was 13 years old, but she never had an opportunity to use it until she came to Memphis with her son. Since then, Wendell has made excellent progress, and his mother has become an articulate spokesperson for Gift of Life Mid-South.
